When I put Europe on my bucket list, 30 days in a German hospital wasn’t what I had in mind… today marks day 1.
This journey will be daunting, but I’m praying this place will be my saving grace, and I will soon have my sparkle back. ✨
#KlinikStGeorg treats the sickest of the sick and the doctors here are chronic Lyme experts. For most of us, this is a last resort. Lyme has already taken so much from me. This week will be filled with appointments, treatments, and detoxing to prepare my body for hyperthermia. These treatments will make me sicker before they make me better.
On Thursday, my body will be heated up under anesthesia to 107° in order to kill the borrelia (lyme). I will be admitted to the ICU after. Please send your prayers upstairs for me. :)
I am clinging to my faith and my loved ones and am ready to keep fighting this battle. The beautiful thing is that I don’t have to fight on my own. I feel extremely lucky to have been accepted into this hospital.
It’s crazy to think I’ll be here for a whole 30 days. Everything is so different here and it all feels like an unknown. The doctors and nurses here are amazing. I feel so heard, understood, and cared for. It saddens me how misunderstood chronic illness and Lyme disease are in the U.S. So many of my symptoms have been shrugged off or questioned over the last 10 years.
Today I had 3 infusions, 7 appointments, and took a list of medications I couldn’t tell you the names of. I’m exhausted, but I know things are only going to get harder. I’m scared, but I’m ready. ❤️
